she also works with an organization called Invisible Children, as she so eloquently described to me:
‘[they] raise awareness about the longest running war in Africa. A civil war that has been going on for more than 20 years in Uganda that involves the abduction of kids to become child soldiers and many lives lost by the rebel group called the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Education is a desire for these Ugandan children. So, Invisible Children also raises money to rebuild schools in war-torn Northern Uganda through a program they established called Schools for Schools. This allows schools in America (virtually anywhere) raise money for a school they are partnered with in Uganda. Among many other things they do, they are also trying to end the war through legislation.’
Thu’s trying to raise $1,000 for Invisible Children by the end of November and get an invitation to the San Diego Summer Summit to further her education on this devastating issue that is very close to her heart. i’m inspired by her commitment and so glad that she informed me about this amazing organization….and that she looks great with a mustache!
