goodbye year of the tiger, hello year of the rabbit

in honor of some of our international readers we wanted to do a post on the Chinese New Year!

Chinese New Year fell on February 3rd this year and the occasion is celebrated with two weeks of feasting, parades, fireworks and family reunionbuddha is said to have announced that the people born in each animal’s year are supposed to have specific traits related to that animal (Smiley was born in the year of the dragon… hmm…. and Kate was born in the year of the pig…oink). those born under the year of the rabbit are said to be ambitious, talented and financially lucky.

the year of the rabbit is said to be a year in which you can be calm and tranquil.  when celebrating this holiday, many wear red because it is believed that this color warrants good luck.

if you’re in los angeles, be sure to check out the chinese new year festival in chinatown. for those not in LA, we bet you have a Chinatown in your city so go check it out and get some red lanterns and dim sum!!!
