vertical gardens, also called green walls or living walls, are gaining popularity and appearing on buildings all over the world. the first time I heard about vertical gardens was on a study abroad trip in spain… my friends and I were walking home from our daily mid-afternoon sangria and tapas outing and stumbled across the caixa forum – this wall has over 15,000 plants and 250 different species.
green walls have a variety of different functions – they usually used in cities on the side of buildings to reduce the overall temperature of the building. some people have even started planting vertical gardens in their homes and apartments – see how they did it here.
