kale for breakfast?

this morning’s macrobiotic breakfast: miso soup with vegetables, seaweed and brown rice, fresh steamed kale from the garden and warm apple sauce with olive oil.

home from the Taste Of Health cruise, joey and i are trying to really stick to macrobiotic food. we have been vegan for about a year and a half which basically means abstaining from meat and dairy and avoiding processed sugars. but macrobiotics takes it a step further into a whole foods, plant-based diet. miso soup and greens are eaten at breakfast and every food should be eaten in it’s simplest and whole form with grains and vegetables being the majority of the diet. it’s purpose is to give your body the cleanest nutrients so you may live your life at optimal health. it really makes sense if you delve into the reasoning behind it but it is a different approach than the traditional western diet. i will definitely still indulge in pancakes sometimes!.. because macrobiotics is about finding what works best for you and your body and makes you feel tip top! to read more about macrobiotics i recommend The Kind Diet and The Hip Chicks Guide to Macrobiotics.
