if you are not already aware of the photographer william eggleston… i am here to help. eggleston is known for bringing color photography to the mainstream and helped this medium gain legitimacy in the 1970s when black and white photography was the norm.
he often took photos of ordinary subjects like hotel rooms, landscapes, household objects and so on. in his work, he was able to see beauty in traditionally mundane and boring scenes. to me, eggleston’s photography truly represents what america is and i was definitely influenced by his work when i drove across the country last summer.
