RIP Elizabeth Taylor! truly one of the most glamourous movie stars of all time. she and Richard Burton definitely paved the way for the Angies and Brads of the world. with Elizabeth’s multiple marriages (she was married 8 times to 7 husbands) and affairs, she was constant fodder for gossip rags before US magazine even existed. she also had a passion for jewelry (my kind of girl) and owned some well known pieces including a 69 carat diamond aptly named the Taylor-Burton Diamond. she was a very active philanthropist for AIDS research and owned a Van Gogh painting…i don’t know why i put those in the same sentence.
i remember watching her in National Velvet when i was younger – great movie, you should see it. and in college i wrote a huge paper on the most expensive and disastrous movie of all time, of which Elizabeth was the star – Cleopatra. Taylor won Oscars for her roles in BUtterfield 8 and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? she was a talent and a beauty with a kind heart….RIP Liz!
