the dinsor chair

anon pairot, a singapore based designer, is inspired by the beauty in everyday objects (kind of like some of Kate’s jewelry designs) and uses them to make furniture.  in this example, anon uses no.2 pencils to build a functional piece of art! the dinsor chair is an example of how innovation and creativity can turn something as small as a pencil into THIS!

the crazy part is that this chair actually works!  the pencils are fastened together with hundreds of tiny pins.

i think that anon’s work is beautiful and my only comment is that it would nice to see him use and employ upcycled or reclaimed materials. his furniture looks awesome but it is made with all brand new pencils that could probably be put to better use… like given to children?

either way, this design is a very cool concept and even though i probably would opt out of having this chair in my house, it does make for a very interesting piece.
