based in amsterdam, de culinaire werkplaats is the name of a restaurant that is by no stretch “ordinary.” they specialize in eating and food concepts and focus on blending food, design and art. it’s founders come from two very different backgrounds – chef Eric Meuring and textile designer Marjolein Wintjes are the heads of the restaurant.
they are famous for their fruit and vegetable paper, made in-house and is used in all their dishes. the paper is created from a juice of blended plants. it is then laid flat in a “de-hydrator” and is used for many purposes!
both eric and marjolein use their awesome edible paper to make accessories and clothing – to promote the idea of sustainable fashion.
DE CULINAIRE WERKPLAATS is about the entire eating experience. basically a design studio and restaurant morphed into one awesome place. the founder’s goal is to tell stories through food as well as cultivate a new relationship between the consumer, the designer and their food.
