in celebration of Independence Day (happy 4th btw) let’s take a little look-see at ClickBoomPow is a design collective of four guys living in New York City. i am always interested in people who design with a purpose and their project entitled “Role Models” fits this exactly. they debuted their chairs at the ICFF 2011 Design Week and have been getting a good amount of attention thus far.
their public seating concept includes elements of pop art and were designed to bring people’s attention to overlooked urban spaces and by highlighting them with life and color. the artwork is created by a variety of different artists, making each chair individual and bold in it’s own right.
these chairs have been placed in random parts all around new york city. they are left in a specific location for a feew days and then picked up and brought somewhere else. it would be hard to miss these pieces on the street with their bold colors that contrast against the city pavement.
empowerment is a big part of this project and the goal of ClickBoomPow is get people to have pride for their community. the chairs are meant to foster a more inviting and positive urban environment as well as enriching the scenery. this design collective is expressing themselves while also cultivating an appreciation for all things art.
