Kalu Yala is a sustainable community that is currently being built in panama. one of my friends that i met on my road trip across america last year is living in panama as a part of the design/build team on this project. the goal of Kalu Yala is to change the way the world builds, invests and lives.
Kalu Yala is founded on the idea of participation. every decision is made with the collective input from local residents and the builders themselves. they use the term “naked development” to describe their approach to building a community – it encompasses collaboration, transparency, vulnerability, energy, enthusiasm, mindfullness and soulfulness.
the community will be built around sustainability, as they define it. as for food, they will teach locals about organic farming in order to create a safer and healthier farm environment. organic farming will lead to more jobs for the inhabitants surrounding Kalu Yala.
Kalu Yala is located in a valley with one main river. the project has a facebook page, which they update quite frequently, so be sure to check out the progress of the adventure!
