Kate gave me the tip about this amazing Canadian-born artist by the name of Maskull Lasserre who takes anatomy and anatomical sculptures to a new level. he creates these insanely intricate and detailed pieces out of wood – and I have never seen wood-work like this before.
he completely transforms mundane (yet useful) household objects into incredible works of art. the attention to detail and the precision that goes into making these pieces is amazing.
whittling wood has been practiced worldwide for centuries and it is a cultural activity for many people. the art of whittling and woodworking seems to have faded away since no one really has time for this kind of hobby anymore. but Lasserre’s has made whittling his life – and he is clearly extremely skilled and has mastered this art.
he transforms traditional wood-working into art that is entirely his own and is a blend of so many different genres.
