Moomah is not just a silly word to say out loud… it is much more! located on Hudson St. in the West Village of NYC, Moomah is:
a) a cafe.
b) a creative space for DIT (do-it-together) projects
c) a space for art and music classes
this space is intended to provide parents and caregivers a space to experience hands-on fun with their children, in an environment that is fun but not over-stimulating. not to mention, it’s beautifully designed…
they offer semester-long art and music classes with some really cool options. they offer an Animation Workshop for children ages 6, 7 and 8, where they teach the kids about the concept of stop-motion animation, light painting and paper cut-out animation. at the end of the semester the students show off their creations and get to take home their art pieces. they also have a “Star Wars Craft Quest”, drama classes as well as workshops for mom.
the cafe at Moomah boasts a menu of locally-sourced organic and healthy foods. they believe in knowing exactly where your foods come from – and providing sustainable food options that satisfy both adult and kid appetites.
Moomah also has art tables – equiped with all kinds of art supplies so that very little set-up is required. their do-it-together projects are available all the time, so there is no need for appointments. these kind of spaces are few and far between and i think we need more spaces that foster creativity for both parents and their kids! not only can kids learn from their parents, but the parents can learn from their kids too.
