The Mirrorcube

just miles away from the arctic circle in northern sweden lies the incredible Treehotel,  which opened up over the summer.  each room was designed to be unique by different architects – the cabin, the blue cone, the nest, and the microcube we’re the first units to be developed.  all of the rooms are made with eco-friendly building practices, and the founders of treehotel have plans to make 24 rooms designed by 24 architects in the next five years.

The Cabin

The Cabin

the hotel is intended to provide a refuge for city dwellers – allowing them to experience nature in a modern way.   the concept was inspired by a documentary called “The Tree Lover” by Jonas Selberg Augusten.  it follows three men from the city who want to reconnect with their roots by constructing a treehouse out in the woods.  the story highlights the significance of trees in the lives of human beings. now, at the start of winter they have added two more amazing rooms -the UFO and the tree sauna.

The Blue Cone

in order to be as harmonious with nature as possible, the production of the treerooms is done in the forest, while disrupting the surrounding environment as little as possible.  they only use small local production companies to help fabricate the designs.  eco outdoor wood is used for the floor and contains no chemical substances.  if you’re worried about being cold in here in the winter, they have heating under the floors that insulates the entire room.

The Bird’s Nest

if you thought just staying in this hotel was enough…there’s more! Treehotel offers amazing wintertime and summertime activities – you can experience “an action-packed dog sled ride through the frozen landscape, or a calm and quiet snowshoe hike in pursuit of the magic and myth of the northern lights.” OR if you’re a summertime visitor: “experience the arrival of summer and its bright nights while on horseback, moutainbike, or peacefully by foot.” i want to move here and never leave!
