if you read my blog regularly you probably are aware of my crazy love for my sister Tess. she is a smart, beautiful little lady and also a very talented DIYer! she lives in NYC attending NYU – a couple years ago i blogged about her first apartment DIY re-do here!
now she lives in a cute apartment in the West Village of NYC with her friend Chelsea and she/we decorated it with some DIYs, some hand-me-downs and some flea market finds! you may recognize some of the trays, etc. from this post where we snagged some flea market goodies
her headboard is made by padding and covering and old folding screen (like we did before here) with some batting and a snazzy houndstooth fabric. Tess hand-made the cameo fabric throw pillow to tie in the pale blue, black and white.
in their tiny hallway kitchen the black and white rug, a hand-me-down from our mom, set the tone for two DIY black and white chandelier silloughettes which are traced and cut out from construction paper… slightly inspired by the chandelier painting i did forever ago for my bedroom…
in their tiny living room a Turkish rug which, we bought at a flea market in LA, is layered over a zen seagrass rug. the coffee table with fold-out leaves doubles as their dining table, accented with another flea market tray. they had a bookshelf that had one broken shelf but with some cheap Ikea wine-glass holders, and a flea market decanter, they turned it into a mini bar!
don’t you love it?! such a great use of a petite space.
