how would you like to live in a vertical garden? tokyo-based architect ryue nishizawa designed this crazy-lookin’ house in the middle of the city. it’s designed to give you the feeling of being outside, while you’re technically inside and even the walls are built with this in mind.
the house actually has no interior walls – the floor plan is basically completely open. the exterior walls are made of a movable curtain and lined with plants. this four-story home emanates the true experience of indoor/outdoor living.
the home is very simplistic and modern, with concrete floors and a single cut out in each floor for the staircase.
this kind of home is definitely not my style, but i would come visit all the time if a friend happened to live here! i would feel a little strange living in that kind of outdoor/indoor home smack in the middle of tokyo… maybe if it was transported to a more natural setting i could get down. but i guess that takes away the point – it is meant to show that you can have a natural outdoorsy feeling space even if you are in a bustling, loud city.
