miniature toilet paper roll sculptures

a woman of many talents – Anastassia Elias paints, sculpts, and collages, to name a few.  she recently made a series of miniature art pieces (and who doesn’t love miniature things?!) made completely out of used toilet paper rolls.  each roll houses a different scene… the zoo, children playing, a soccer game, a fisherman fishing… and so on.

“I cut the small paper shapes that I stick inside the toilet paper rolls,” she states. ”I use tweezers to manipulate the paper shapes. I select the paper of the same color as the roll. It gives the illusion that the paper figures make part of the roll. I need few hours to make one piece.”

each roll incorporates light into the piece in a different way.  when light shines through, it plays with depth and perspective. i love her funkiness.  she was able to look at something so common and boring as a toilet paper roll and turn it into a beautiful piece.
