artist spotlight: faces on the streets by andre muniz gonzaga

você fala português? no? that’s okay. the best part about art, is you don’t have to understand what that means to enjoy it. Andre Muniz Gonzaga hailing from Brazil, is up there with street artists like Banksy, Ox, Sam3 of Spain, and Nick Walter.

in 1997 he toured the world to Senegal, Portugal, the Favelas of Brazil…and took the decay and natural erosion of elements and transformed them into life size canvases for all to view with pleasure.

some of his work makes me a little uncomfortable with the alien-esque, slightly distorted human faces, but needless to say. it. is. fascinating. i can only imagine what it will be like bumping into one of these in real life in Brazil (world cup 2014).

Andre also features graffiti art, but this, this whimsical weirdness stuff, is much more my cup of tea.
