This video is an effort to answer the MANY questions I get asking ‘how do you know how to do interior design?’ or ‘how do I know what things go together and will look good in a room?’ I think the easiest way is to show, not tell! In the video above I take you on a shopping trip with me for two real life interior design projects. You can see how I piece items together based off my mood board and color palette. It’s fun and always crazy. Trust your instincts, if you just love something, you can make it work. Use your moodboard as your map.
I hope this helps get your interior design juices flowing! Let me know if you have any questions.
I use Photoshop or Polyvore (follow my Polyvore, here) to make moodboards. Photoshop is a little harder to learn but gives you a lot of flexibility. Polyvore is fun and easy!
Moodboard 1: for a playroom I’m working on. The color palette helped me shop. Save your moodboards on your phones for easy reference while out shopping.
When picking out throw pillows make sure there is something similar to tie a grouping together. Here I used a solid navy pillow to unite the navy leopard print and the patterned grey pillow.
Moodboard 2: To see the finished room where some of these items were used based off the moodboard above see: ‘Babyproofed & Decorated Family Room Before & After‘
Annnnd I bought too much I needed Elise to come rescue me in the other Prius!
