      Hey Gloria!

Thanks for posting! Bathrooms are definitely their own fun (and challenge, sometimes!) to design. I have a Pinterest board where I have gathered a lot of different inspiration images and ideas for bathroom design, I would check that out for some ideas for your own! I wouldn’t go for the suction mirror for the vanity, personally. A more traditional vanity mirror will look much nicer!

Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun designing your bathroom!

        Hey!

Thanks for posting! Your room looks incredible! I agree that the TV seems out of place with the rest of the room. Would it be possible to mount it on a wall? That way, you can do away with the much more modern and dark piece that it is on, which is so contrasting with the vintage, pastel style of the rest of the room. Putting a frame around the mounted TV could be a really cool touch that would help marry it to the room’s aesthetic!

If not, I would look for a similarly sized TV stand, except in a vintage style that will blend in with the rest of the room. A TV itself will already seem slightly out of place in such an ornate and elegant room, so try to call as little attention as possible to it in the design, and integrate it with a piece of furniture that matches the style of everything else!

Hope this helps! Good luck finishing your room!

        XOXO,

          Hey James!

Thank you for posting!! There is definitely such a thing as colorful minimalist, so you’re already onto your style there! Before you get rid of your wardrobes, is it possible to spruce them up with a new paint job? Storage is essential to an organized and well-designed room and new wardrobes could be a big purchase! Something to consider before you toss out the old ones! I have a few DIY tutorials on repainting old furniture to make it new and cute!

If you do opt to get rid of the wardrobes but need to fill the space, think about setting up a conversation area against that wall. Andrea’s bedroom is a great example of how two lounge chairs on either side of a little table can make a chic, inviting addition to the bedroom. Eva’s room also has its own version of this, with her bench! You can easily DIY or purchase a bench to go along that wall if that is more your vibe!

Past that, I would spend some time on Pinterest, gathering images of rooms that inspire you. You’ll be able to find more precise ideas and directions from those images! Feel free to post some or pictures of your actual room for more advice!

          Best of luck! Have fun!

            Hey Trisha!

Thanks for posting! What a tricky dilemma! I think Dana’s chalk trick could work really well to fill up the holes that you’re not able to cover with wall art. If you’re looking to cover an entire wall, a tapestry could be an easy, large-scale solution!

As far as hanging art without making holes, I fully support Command strips and hooks! I decorated three dorm rooms in our studio last year, only using command strips and washi tape to hang art on the walls!

Hope these tricks and tips help! Good luck with your rental!

              Hey Tia!

Thanks for posting!! All these pictures are super helpful, and I can tell you’ve put a lot of great thought into your hallway design! I really like where you are going, especially with the bench, the calligraphy art, and the built-in! How chic!

I would recommend a lighter color for the walls. Something as dark as that navy will make the hallway seem smaller, and not open and airy as you intend. A grey or blue are great color choices, but I would definitely opt for a lighter shade.

As for the wall at the end of the hallway — a full length mirror or macrame wall hanging could fit well into that space! The mirror would serve more function, as a place to check your OOTD one last time before you head out the door, and you can always hit up thrift stores or flea markets to find vintage mirrors with interesting frames! A macrame hanging would bring more of a modern boho vibe into the space. If the white or natural colored ones aren’t your exact vibe, check out Etsy or some other shops online, there are endless options of shapes, sizes, and colors those woven hangings come in nowadays!

Hope this helps! Best of luck finishing up your hallway! Let me know how it comes out!

                Hey Selly!!

Yay, thanks for posting again! I love your contributions on the forums!! For the curtains, I wouldn’t focus on pattern or boldness as much as I would texture. It seems like you have a minimal, yet chic color palette set up, and you want to keep the calm and cool vibe of that going with the windows, without opting for so-minimal-it’s-boring curtains.

I really like these and these from Urban Outfitters, both of which come in neutral colors that fit your palette, yet have a draped or ruffled texture to bring some luxe coziness into play.

Hope this helps! Best of luck!

                    Hey!!

Thanks for posting!! You can actually apply the Freckles BeautyMarks in any of these ways! They will look shiniest if applied over makeup or without makeup, but if you have them on for a few days, you can definitely put makeup on over and around them! I would avoid putting powder or a liquid foundation or cover up over them, though!

                    Have fun with your BeautyMarks!

                      Hi Linda!

Thanks for posting!! I have some experience with bathroom makeovers, as recent as our master bathroom renovation in OMG We Bought A House! You can follow the process from the beginning of season 3, or just scope the final result for inspiration! If you’re looking for more decoration inspiration, I have a video about making over a bathroom into a relaxing oasis!! It’s full of tips and ways to make your bathroom lush and complete.

As far as the stairs — that isn’t an area that typically has a ton of ground space, so I would focus on the walls. A gallery wall that goes diagonal with the direction of the stairs could be really interesting! Check out these ideas for different types of frame arrangements to find what is best for you!

                      Good luck with your space!

                        Hey!!

Thanks for posting!! It sounds like you have a lot of things already figured out for your room, which is great! I made a video about DIY Gallery Walls that focused a lot on placement and positioning, so maybe that could help you figure out where and how you’d like to hang your frames!

As far as incorporating purple, but not making it overwhelming, I would advise playing with different shades of purple. Don’t just pick one tone and repeat that, but have a variety of purples from pastel to eggplant. Some pillows, a little bit of art, or even an area rug in purple tones are all nice ways to integrate the color without letting it take over.

Hope this helps! Good luck decorating!

                          Hi Sophie,

Thanks for posting!! Much love to you in the UK!

Hmmm, I see your dilemma! Fortunately, there are lots of ways to work around it! You haven’t mentioned the lighting in your room — if you’re working with just an overhead light or have any lamps. If you don’t, I would say to add in lighting from different heights and angles to help brighten up the room. A floor lamp in the corner, some fairy lights across the ceiling or draped over your bookshelf or wardrobe, or even some small candles or table lamps on different surfaces!

I would try to clear up and declutter the surfaces and bookshelf of your room as much as possible. Try to get as much room as you can to add in accent pieces. Some faux or fresh flowers, smaller pieces of art, crystals, marble accents, or small metallic accents could all bring some liveliness and lightness into the room! Also, I don’t recall you mentioning curtains, but if you have or can get curtains in your room, a thin, white, gauzy curtain would bring a lot of whimsical, bohemian lightness into the mix!

Hope this helps! Good luck decorating!

                            Hi Arielle!!

Thanks for posting! Much love to you in Jamaica!!

That room model is great! You did an awesome job, it’s really helpful for visualizing your space! As far as giving it a cohesive, serene look, I would start by trying to establish a color palette. White always comes to mind both as a good starting point, but also a calm and relaxing color to feature. If it’s possible to paint any of your furniture white (here’s a tutorial on repainting furniture, if it helps!), I would recommend that to get those pieces to look more cohesive. Adding a rug over your brown carpeting will be nice to cover that color up!

I also think that the smaller walls you have at either end of the room could be cool for a statement wall like the Makeup Brush Polka Dot wall from Tati’s Beauty Room, or if you’re looking for something a little more subtle, the DIY Stencil Wall from Andrea’s Bedroom!!

Hope this helps! Good luck decorating! Let me know if you have any more questions!

                              Hi Athziry,

Thanks for posting!! It sounds like your room has a lot of potential to be decorated in many different styles. It’s a blank (well, light orange) slate, if you will!

I don’t know if I would recommend green to be your accent color, judging off the orange-hued walls. Maybe a deep green or emerald/ teal tone if green is your favorite color! I would also recommend looking at muted pinks, wood and natural tones, metallics like silver and gold, or maybe going opposite on the color wheel with a blue tone!

I would also add curtains to your window, and wall art for sure! If you have the space for a mural, they are always a fun statement!

Hope this helps! Good luck decorating!

                              XOXO,

                                Hi Amna,

Thanks for posting! The open concept space you’re describing can be really awesome and fun to design, and while I understand the desire to make it cohesive, keep in mind that these are still two different rooms! They can coordinate without one room feeling like an extension of the other. I decorated this type of space for both Cloe’s and Jessie’s places, and intentionally gave the different rooms slightly different vibes so they could stand on their own.

That being said, let’s focus on your rooms! If you can’t change the wood tone, think about what you can change. If they’re not already, I would make sure all the walls in the two rooms are painted the same color. Then, find accent colors and touches that you can carry throughout. A rug in one room that matches some curtains in the other. If you like the elegant and sophisticated look, think about metallics. A gold, brass, or silver accent color could really tie the rooms together, and should be a key feature for that upscaled look.

Let me know if you have any more questions about your rooms! Uploading pics of the rooms or inspiration images would help with more specific ideas!

                                XOXO,

                                  Hey Dana,

Thanks for posting! I love the direction of your moodboard! So chic, feminine, and clean!! It reminds me a lot of Joslyn Davis’ studio, and also Manny MUA’s makeup room! (Especially with the pale pinks and whites with metallic accents!) I would say to try painting some of the furniture you have white, instead of buying all new furniture, to save some funds! These pieces all have pretty stark and clean shapes, but a vintage or currently-owned piece with a fresh coat of white paint could work just as well, and bring in some structural interest!

Also, if your walls aren’t white, I would really recommend a white wall with this design style! If you have a mirrored wall or closet, I would recommend using the room divider-as-curtain trick we did in Eva’s room to keep the aesthetic as breezy and uninterrupted as possible.

Good luck with your room and keep us updated on how it comes out!

                                  XOXO,
