hi mr. kate i love ur videos and i love what you do with spaces. i want to be an interior decorator and i need a mentor!!! asap. im kaasi and i would like you to mentor me. i just turned 15 and i live in oklahoma. i was taken into dhs custody when i was nine and ive been in dhs ever since. my mom died when i was 12 and my dad is incarcerated, and my half sister has her own problems, so i really dont have anybody and my caseworker says i cant do it and i want to prove her wrong. but i cant do it alone. i need ur help. u can contact me at kaasi.strong11@gmail.com

Hi Kaasi,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your story! It sounds like you have been through a lot. I think it’s so incredible that you want to be an interior designer, and I believe in you! If you haven’t already, I think you should join the Little Misters, which is a special community of creative and supportive individuals who are all connected over their relationship to the Mr. Kate brand and me! (They even have their own special forum!) I am always chatting with the Little Misters, and even get to do Google Hangouts or one-on-one chats with them sometimes, which is so cool!

Your teenage years can be such a rollercoaster, but it sounds like you have a great head on your shoulders and are motivated! That is the most important thing. Community is also so important, so I’d be so happy if you would have the Little Misters and myself be part of an inspiring, supportive community for you!

Hello Kaasi,

I’m Alexis Solares. I’m sorry about you dad being incarcerated. I wanted to let you know that my dad is too. I will be praying for you, and your family. I know you’re going through a lot! When my dad was taken from me it was the worst day of my life. It’s difficult I know- but you have to be strong. You can get through this. If you want to be an interior designer you go for it girl! There is nothing stopping you. You just have to believe in yourself, and believe me that’s enough. You can do anything you put your mind to. I know people will come to you, and doubt your ability, but look at Steve Jobs for instance- he was denied by bank after bank when he wanted to start Apple. Finally, he got a big break. Apple is a company that everyone knows! Without it we wouldn’t have IPhones. Steve Jobs believed in himself. Don’t give up Kaasi! You got this! Also, I want to tell you that God is there for you. He hears your tears, and prayers. Pray Kaasi, and he’ll help you. I know because I’ve seen God do wonders in my own life. He is with you. Don’t give up Kaasi! You totally got this! I just wanted you to know that I’m totally praying for you, and I wish you the best!
