      Hi Mr Kate

I have been watching your videos for a while now and I love them all especially your decorating videos (I would give anything for one of you visits but since I live in Ireland I don’t see that happening anytime soon lol!). I’m living at home with my parents right now, and my room is still the same as it was when I was 10 :/. I really need a change. The walls are pink and purple, which is totally not my style anymore. The furniture is white wood and the floor boards are also white wood. I have no idea where to start and need help. Thank you!

        Hey!!

Thanks for posting on the forums!! And for all of the support, it means so much!

It can definitely be tricky to transition a childhood bedroom into a more adult and sophisticated space. If you’re unsure of what you want out of the room right now, I would say to pick out 3 of your favorite room images on Pinterest (check out my boards here!) and see if there are an similarities or common threads between them that can identify elements of your design taste.

From there, you should remove all the furniture from the room and paint the walls a fresh, light color. Having the room empty will help you reimagine the floor plan from a fresh perspective, which will help it feel new and different.

Check out different bedroom layouts and images to see what you like and would work best for you. Some inspo images to get you started:

Lighting is also key to making a room feel bright and happy, so change out the ceiling fixture or if there isn’t one, bring in 2 or 3 lamps!

I hope this helps! Have fun re-decorating!

        XO,

        Kate
