Stereotyping against lgbtq+ people?

I’m a straight white girl, but when you live in Minneapolis you’re surrounded by different races, sexuality, and different opinions (that you either are against, fine with, or love). Im the person that loves all people the same and knows how to use common sense to respect someone as a human being. But a lot of the people I know, judge people that aren’t like them. They don’t understand why people can’t do or be exactly like them. Including my parents, me and my sister wanted to go to the pride festival but wasn’t aloud to go because of the things they (she) believes in. How do you do with these people while being respectful?
