My favorite Mr. Kate moment of the year was meeting the team on my trip to L.A. and seeing the Mr. Kate office in person!! It is truly office goals 😀

Getting into some character day costumes from High School now.

Here is my nerd costume, I had all of these items already if that tells you anything about me. Please notice the sock-em-bop-em ring I’m wearing in the group picture. I got that from a party favor aisle and wore it in real life.

Here is a lumberjack costume featuring the beard I used in my gnome costume:

And here is my Hannah Montana costume where I bobby-pined my hair to have bangs, I was super proud of that!

This is when I was a unicorn three years ago, I had just started dating my now fiancé and I had already made my costume and bought the unicorn head otherwise we would have made a couples costume! I made the tulle and sequin tutu and sprayed glitter all over my shirt and added a cute bow on the horn. – he was also freaked out by the head haha.

Yay! Since the contest is extended, I dug up a couple of older gems starting with my DIY gnome costume. It’s just a rolled up piece of paper bobby pinned to my head and a store bought beard, but I think it’s hilarious. My friend and I sat in her yard as gnomes should and passed out candy. This was 5 years ago I think…. I don’t really gnome. All the puns.

Ok so I totally missed the challenge, but thought I would post anyways because I love Halloween!

This is my fiance’s, John, and my costume from last year, we were going to DIY it, but then found these onsies from Walmart that looked legit, so then I started the hunt for some cheap masks which was actually pretty difficult for an adult size. I also did some Darth Vader inspired make up!

This costume I’m super proud of, it was completely no-sew and every single item for this was under $10! I also did a “frostbitten” Elsa for a photography project!

This fireman and Dalmatian costume was like day of last minute two years ago. John could decide what he wanted to be and changed his mind like 5 million times. The only things I bought for this costume were the white shirt, black duck tape, felt for the ears/tail and face paint. We also DIYed John’s costume.

This one was so funny! This was for our work Halloween a couple years ago, same year as Elsa and the Dalmatian haha. I bought a black wig and some black facepaint so that I could be a black panther and had everything else in my closet. My boss, the zebra, bought a painter’s jumpsuit/smock and we drew all the lines and filled them in over two days at the end of work. My other boss was the wildlife photographer because he doesn’t ever dress up and takes all the pictures, we got him to put leaves a brown shirt.

This is my Taylor Swift’s bad blood costume where all I did was find the bad blood “movie poster” logo and I personalized it to say my name. Then I printed it and glued it to some card stock and wore it with some red in white thread.

I could dig up so many more costumes, but I’ll just leave it at this! Every one’s costumes are so great!! I love seeing all the creativity!

I’m a hot I don’t know what mess! By this I mean I have so many things I love to do and want to do that sometimes it seems impossible to accomplish everything! I love being creative through graphic design, photography and crafting, but also woodworking and I want to learn how to weld! I’m trying to learn calligraphy right now because I love to draw, but I feel like drawing doesn’t require as much control as true calligraphy and I love a challenge! I love my job in marketing, but would eventually love to do freelance work so I can work from home! I love interior design and if I could be really good at one thing and make a living off of it it would be that, who knows what I’ll be doing in 10-20 years. I also love to travel, but I love staying home too. I love cats and dogs and really all animals and would also love a teacup pig (I probably wont get one, but I did find a reputable breeder and hour away from me…). This is all kind of random, but maybe this can all fall under I’m a hot joyful mess, my main goal in life is to be happy and spread joy. By capturing moments that make people smile, designing a logo that helps them build their dream, making various things to help someone’s vision come to life, creating a beautiful space someone can call home, making someone laugh because I tried to walk my cat on a leash… or my teacup pig 😉 Whatever it is I think the best gift you can give someone is joy 🙂

P.S. here is my cat on his harness with his leash in the pet store wearing a lion mane #canteven

Lori – I love your map gallery wall! The layout is great!

Madeleine – Have you set up Instagram account switching? I was having the hardest time keeping up with my photography/design account (@stuffjennadoes) until I set up account switching which made it so much easier since you don’t have to log out and log back in all the time! P.S. Your cat is so cute and I’m sure Bella is as well 😀

Sarah – I’ve never been to Disneyworld either!! Aghh I have been ding to go my whole life, I love Disney too! And I am totally on the same page with you with going to open houses. I love going to model homes and seeing the cool design choices they made and brainstorm ideas for my future dream home 😉 Jefferson is so cute and Dachshunds are my favorites so if he’s even part dachshund I’m sure he’s the best! I can’t wait until I move this fall to a semi-permanent place so that I can actually get dogs of my own!

Denise – That swag bag looks awesome! Tell us how the products are! I’m curious!

Kate – I didn’t know Sofia also did graphic design! I love her photography and she seems like a really fun person in general!

Denise – I’ll have to check out those films! They sound interesting!

Thaline – Welcome! I agree with you,  I love how friendly and like-minded this community is! Whenever you’re able to travel over here to the U.S. make sure Texas is on your list! 🙂

Oh hayyy Amantha 🙂 I didn’t know you had one client already, that’s awesome! I need to talk to you about London whenever I end up planning my trip over there, I’m thinking that will be my first stop before going over to the mainland!

Hi Denise!! Give us movie suggestions too! The only somewhat “obscure” movie I can suggest to you is a movie I watched in my french class in high school that I later bought for myself because it is one of my favorite movies! It’s called Le Choristes or The Chorus and I highly recommend it. Although it is in french and I remember absolutely no french, I watch it with English subtitles. You can check it out on Rotten Tomatoes where it got a 92% audience rating http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/chorus_les_choristes/

Other than that I pretty much stick to Disney, cheesy romantic comedies and Monty Python and The Holy Grail haha

I personally love white sheer curtains, I think they are so nice and airy and let in a ton of natural light! But based on your preference on color and privacy, there are a ton of other options out there. I would for sure do floor to celling curtains assuming you can remove the ones in the picture (or just cover them up with a more solid fabric). You could get some inexpensive pipe from the hardware store in place of a curtain rod and paint it if its not a color you like. I also love the idea of a sitting area by the window like in one of these pictures below! If you already have a chair that could go there all you would need is a lamp and a side table/small bookshelf and you’re good to go! To get that hotel feel I think stick with mostly neutrals, then bring in a few pops of color through accessories and plants!

Kate – I think you’re cooler! So background on my degree, I had no background in Agriculture, but I really wanted to go to Texas A&M which is widely known for their College of Agriculture, the running joke is that we have two of every major, one within Liberal Arts, Engineering, etc. and one in the college of Ag haha.

Anywaysss I was going to do a graphics/animation major (a lot of who go work for Pixar!), but I wasn’t really into animation. I’m more interested in flat graphic design with logos, advertisements, etc., photography and general marketing which is what I do. So I found Ag Communications! So no Ag job for me, but I was required to take a lot of Ag classes where they brought a cow and piglets into class! A lot of my friends go do marketing or social media for agricultural based companies or magazines.

Agriculture is fascinating to learn about though!

Adan – For a candle suggestion, I know of the best candle everrrrrr and you have probably heard of it if you like Anthropologie. It’s by the brand Capri Blue and it is the Volcano candle. I’m not sure if a candle can change your life, but if so my life is so much better with this scent! Maybe I’m exaggerating, but also maybe not because it is soooo good!

Dannie – Oh good tip, I’ll make sure to do that! I definitely need to save as much as I can! Victoria Falls is BEAUTIFUL! I went at the beginning of August which is technically winter over there (although Vic Falls wasn’t cold since it’s closer to the equator). Since it was winter, there hadn’t been as much rain fall, I would suggest going in spring or fall so its still not super hot, but the water will be a little higher. More water = more mist = more rainbows = happiness.

And yes I love Les Mis!! And Jean ValJean definitley lives up to his name, I named him that because he kept escaping from me an running away when I first got him! He did whatever it took, even falling 4+ feet to the floor! He’s a mess haha.

Just read the email! That is so awesome that you have been to that many countries! I went on a month-long study abroad last summer to Namibia, Africa and it was amazing! We also spent some time in Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls where I bungee jumped off a bridge which I cannot wait to do again, it was so fun!! I’ve also been to Belize and Mexico ! I can’t wait to go back to Africa, but I also want to experience new countries! I have a friend stationed over in England so I want to visit Europe before his contract is up so as far as big ticket travels outside the U.S., Europe is next on my list! I just graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Agricultural Communications & Journalism and now do marketing for an awesome real estate development company and I love coming to work every day which I am so thankful for. I have a cat, Rascal, who is my world and a hamster, Jean ValJean, who hates everyone except my boyfriend. I love dachshunds (wiener dogs) so much that I pretty much look up new breeders and rescue organizations every couple of weeks which is so not good, but I can’t help it, they’re so cute! My birthday was a few days ago on Cinco De Mayo which is always fun and I am feeling 22! I’m not sure what else to say so I’ll leave it at that!
